He who obeys the Messenger, has indeed obeyed Allaah…

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “All of my ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.” They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, who would refuse?” He said: “Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused.” Al-Bukhaari, 7280

Sunnah 35: small deeds

Narrated ‘Aisha: The Prophet (sallalahu alayhe wasalam) was asked,

“What deeds are loved most by Allah?”

He (sallalahu alayhe wasalam) said, “The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few.” He added, ‘Don’t take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability.”

Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 76, Number 472

Challenge: Pick one good deed from the list of ‘authentic sunnah’ good deeds you can do every day from this list below and make a resolve to stick with it:
  1. Say ‘Alhamdulilah’ 33 times after each prayer
  2. Say ‘SubhanAllah’ 33 times after each prayer
  3. Say ‘Allahu Akbar’ 34 times after each prayer
  4. Recite Ayat-al-Kursi after each prayer
  5. Recite your Quls (Qul Hu Allahu Ahad, Qul aou’dhu bi Rabbil Falaq, Qul aoudhu bi Rabbin-nas) 3 times after fajr

Sunnah 37: Brotherhood: its meaning

he Prophet sallalahu alaihe wa salam said:

“A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor.

Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs;

Whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection,

And whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection . ”

(Sahih al Bukhari)

Challenge: If you hear of Muslims being oppressed, be it in your own land or another, please do not ignore them or think your help would be insignificant.
This is the meaning of brotherhood. Please pick at least one thing from the list below and strive hard to do it:

  1. Make dua to Allah at the end of each prayer to ease the sufferring. Although it is easy to raise our hands and say a few words, it is surprising how few of us do this.
  2. Donate towards humanitarian aid securely through UK-registered charities e.g. www.muslimhands.co.uk, www.humanappeal.org.uk If all you can afford to give is £1, then do not let shaytan make you feel that its not worth giving.
  3. Take 10 mins to educate yourself about on-going oppression e.g. new israeli air-raids on palestinian
  4. Tell people about the current issues and encourage them to help in any way they can

Sunnah 38: Blot out the sins

Sunnah 38:

Narrated by Abu Hurairah:  I heard Allah’s Messenger Peace be upon him saying,

“If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?”

They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.”

The Prophet added, “That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari)

Challenge:

Focus
and prioritize your five daily prayers- challenge yourself to pray every single prayer on time, we strive to keep our appointments in life, for example we would never run late for a business meeting or even an appointment at the doctors, so why is it that when it’s time to meet our Lord in prayer, we delay it?

Sunnah 40-Temptations

Challenge:

  • During this week, look out for the traps of shaitan, when he may tempt you to disobey Allaah, and remind yourself that striving against this temptation is the key to Jannah.
  • A few examples may include:

    - Disobeying our parents- challenge yourself to not give in to the whispers of shaitan when he tempts you to neglect your parents rights, even if they ask for the smallest favour.

    - Not lowering the gaze- challenge yourself to not give in to temptation, when shaitan tempts you to look at the opposite gender.

Sunnah 41: Shaytan’s knots

The Prophet, sallalahu alaihe wa salam, said:

“Shaytan ties three knots at the back of the head of one of you when he sleeps, sealing every knot with: ‘ The night is long so remain asleep’. Then when one of you awakes and remembers Allah, the Most High, one knot is undone. When one makes wudoo a knot is undone, and when one prays all the knots are undone so he wakes energetic and in good spirits. But if not then he wakes in bad spirits and is sluggish.”

Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Challenge:

Remember this everytime you fall asleep, and strive to wake up ensuring you do everything to untie those knots.
