Sunnah 23: Ramadaan, Here we come!!!
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadaan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari)
“Whoever spends the nights of Ramadaan in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari)
“Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him that he spent the whole night in prayer.” (Abu Dawud-Sahih)
“Whoever gives iftaar to one who is fasting will have a reward like his, without that detracting from the fasting person’s reward in the slightest.” (al-Tirmidhi-Sahih)
Abu Hurayrah said: Jibreel used to review the Qur’aan with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) once every year, and he reviewed it with him twice in the year in which he passed away. (Bukhari)
Challenges for this Ramadaan:
1) Fast Ramadaan with the intention of earning Allaah’s Reward inshaa’ Allaah.
2) Try your best to Pray Qiyaam al-layl (also known as Taraweeh) hoping for Allaah’s Reward.
3) Try your best to pray Qiyaam al-layl (also known as Taraweeh) until the Imaam finishes.
4) Race your family/friends in serving iftaar or dates or even water to those who are fasting.
5) Try and set a fixed time everyday to try your best to complete recitation of the Qu’ran before the end of this month and read also reflect on it’s meanings by reading it in a language you understand.
